EMBO Workshop : Glycobiology & Glycochemistry
The EMBO Workshop “Glycobiology and Glycochemistry : Applications to human health and disease”, took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 26 to 30 May 2014, under the organization of Dr. Paula Videira, Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and Dr. Amelia Pilar Rauter from the Faculdade de Ciencias Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal.
The goals of this workshop were to instigate the creation of “scientifically bilingual” teams of investigators and improve fluency in glycan chemistry and biology. It also aimed to highlight to the scientific community at large the prominent and promising role of Gycosciences in improving human health. The EMBO Workshop received very distinguished Scientists, coming from different parts of the World (Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom and United States), that taught and discussed Glycosciences, covering key themes of Glycosciences. There were many participants, mostly PhD students, Post Docs and young professors, also from different countries such as Austria, Croatia, The Netherlands, Norway, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, United Kingdom and United States. The participants provided an outstanding contribution with a high quality level of the abstracts, where fifteen were selected for oral presentation.
An e-learning platform was also run in parallel with the Workshop.
